Registration
Registration is based on first come, first served. Pre-registration is REQUIRED before the 1st day of class for all classes. There is a non-refundable $25 registration fee per student or $40 per family due for every new student. This is paid once, not every year. *Registration fee does NOT apply to winter camps, summer classes or summer camps. We are a progressive academy, meaning we do not start classes over every trimester. However, we do add some new classes throughout the year. While you are not obligated to remain a student for the entire year, when you enroll, you enroll for the entire year.

When registering online, your personal information will be confidential and every effort has been made to ensure your financial information will be secure. Once you have entered your credit/debit card number you will not be charged until we have approved your registration. From then on, your card will be automatically charged per month or per trimester, depending on what frequency you chose. We do not accept checks with the exception of cashier checks.

Studio Etiquette

Everyone is required to follow RPA’s studio etiquette. There is no running, climbing or general horse play allowed in the studio. Children may not be left unattended anywhere in the building. Students may not enter the dance rooms without a teacher. Please do not use the office to make phone calls. This is very distracting for the office staff. Please remove street shoes before entering the dance rooms. Those who cannot abide by these rules will be asked to leave.

Dress Attire
All students are expected to follow Riverside Performing Arts’ dress code (Please see Class Attire). A student that is not appropriately dressed for class will be asked to observe for that day. RPA has an onsite dance attire shop. *NO STREET SHOES ARE ALLOWED ON DANCE FLOORS.

Attendance

All students are expected to arrive on time for class in the proper attire and their hair up in the appropriate style. If the student is too young to handle this on his or her own, we ask that the parent help with this responsibility. If a student is ill, he or she is expected to stay home. If a student is injured and would like to observe class, then he or she may do so. Please let us know as soon as possible if you cannot make it to class. If a student is absent there will be no adjustment of tuition. Make-ups are offered as a courtesy. Please arrange make-ups through the office.

Parents must be ready to pick up their children as soon as possible after class has adjourned. RPA staff is not liable or responsible for watching your children. Please do not leave a sibling in the waiting room while the other sibling dances unless you plan to stay and observe as well.

If you are unable to attend a scheduled private lesson, 24 hour notice is required. If 24 hour notice is not given for missing a private lesson, you will forfeit money paid for that lesson and you will not receive a make-up lesson.

Make Up Classes
If a student misses a class, they may come to a similar class to make up for the missed lesson. Make ups are to be made up within 4 weeks of the missed class. A student must be registered in a class in order to come to a make-up class.

Punctuality
Coming to class on time is important so as not to disrupt the lesson. In addition, a student who misses the warm-up may become injured. Students who arrive late may be asked to observe class that day. If your child is late to class, please wait in the observation room until the teacher has asked the child to enter class. This is to keep the other students from being distracted.

Holiday Closures and Inclement Weather
RPA DOES follow the Vancouver School District schedule for holiday closures. Please call or check our website if you are unsure if RPA is closed.

Tuition
You may choose to pay per month, per 12 weeks or per year. The monthly rate is the same regardless of the number of weeks in a month unless there are only 2 class days in a month. When paying for the entire school year, you’ll receive a 10% discount.

Monthly tuition will be charged to your credit or debit card on file the 1st or the 2nd of each month.

12 week payments will be charged to your credit or debit card on file on

Those paying per 12 weeks must submit a “DROP/CHANGE/ADD” form two (2) weeks before your payment is due. If you do not fill out the “DROP/CHANGE/ADD” form by the due dates listed above, your account will be billed and your credit/debit card will be charged for the next month or trimester and refunds and/or credits will not be issued. There are no refunds for the registration fee. In addition, after a costume has been ordered and paid for you will not receive a refund.

Disruptive Behavior
Inappropriate and disruptive behavior will not be tolerated. Students, who cannot display appropriate classroom behavior, will be asked to observe class that day. Cell phones must be turned off before entering the classroom.

Bathroom Policy
Parents with students who require assistance in the bathroom are REQUIRED to stay at RPA during their child’s entire class. Parents are the only ones permitted to take their child into the bathroom. Staff and other parents may not take a student to the bathroom. To prevent disruption, please have your child use the bathroom BEFORE class.

Practice
Dance, theatre and music lessons, like sports activities, require practice outside of the classroom. It is very important that students take their lesson seriously and come to their next lesson prepared. This will help the student grow and keep the class progressing.

Lost and Found

Please remember to check the Lost and Found box frequently. We donate items from the lost and found box to goodwill during Winter Break, Spring Break, and at the end of the year. Riverside Performing Arts is not responsible for lost, stolen or damaged items. Please leave all valuables at home.

Recital Information

We perform 3 to 4 times per year in the community. Although it is not required to perform, we welcome all students in our performances. A costume will need to be purchased in order to perform. We chose costumes that are inexpensive and usually can be worn again. Winter Holiday Recital costume fee is due the last week of September. Spring Recital costume fee is due the last week of February. The average cost of a costume is $30-$35. Those with past due accounts will not be allowed to perform in recitals.
